Dear Life Members, NOALC Parents, community members and Volunteers.

Jwajalapa !

Wish you all a Happy Yomari Punhi , Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2019!! On behalf of the Newah Organization of America (NOA), we would like to cordially invite you and your family to celebrate Yomari Punhi Gathering.

Donation up to 2 Adults $10.00 and additional $5.00 and kids are free.

We will have a LIVE Yomari preparation and cooking presentation. A traditional delicious Homemade Newah feast with Yomari will be served. Please bring your kids. The main purpose of this Yomari Punhi celebration is to expose our kids to our unique culture.

The name “Yomari Punhi” originates from Newari language, “yoh” means to love or to like, “mari” means bread dish, and “punhi” represent the full moon. Steaming a confection of rice-flour dough shaped like figure makes Yomari. It is filled with sesame seeds and brown cane sugar known as “chaku”, which means sweet in Newari language. The Yomari Punhi is observed during the full moon day of December.

We look forward to seeing you at the Yomari Punhi gathering. Please contact executive member to confirm your attendance and do let us know if you have any questions or suggestions. Your generous contribution to cover the venue, drinks and supplies expenses is also welcome!!

Thank you in advance for your participation and for your continued support to NOA.

Sincerely,

On behalf of,
The Executive Committee
